Sailor Moon Communicator Watches Gashapon Set Review

24th September 2016

Dear Chibi,

Sailor Moon Communicator Watches Gashapon

The shinies are here!! :D Look how pretty they are!

My bro pre-ordered these cute Sailor Moon Communicator Watches for my birthday back in April. The July release date got pushed back, so it took a while for these to arrive from Japan. I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of quality, since these are capsule toys after all. Would I be able to wear it? Can I use it as a real watch? Would it be too plastic and fragile? Seeing how much I loved the Sailor Moon mirror compacts, I had a feeling everything will be alright :D

Sailor Moon R Part 2 DVD Review

17th July 2016

Sailor Moon R: Part 1

Dear Chibi,

About a week ago I received my copy of Sailor Moon R Part 2 on DVD (AU/NZ Madman release)! This is the 4th volume of the series and contains 21 episodes.

https://dearchibi.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/SailorMoonR-DVD-Part2-Madman.jpg

Sailor Moon R Part 2 is where it starts to get really good…and oh my the feels. I really enjoy just sitting down and watching the show. You might think it’s simply a case of nostalgia, but I’d like to think the charm and appeal of Sailor Moon is timeless. While this isn’t a Bluray disc, I never thought the video quality was poor, or outdated. For a show that’s made in the 90s, these remasters are great.

Making anime food~ “Gotcha” Pork Roast from Food Wars

18th June 2016

Dear Chibi,

This weekend Hubby and I decided to try “anime food”~“Gotcha” Pork Roast which appears in the first episode of Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma”. The protagonist was challenged to make a meat dish (after all the meat were sabotaged in his kitchen), so he came up with this cheeky idea using his grocery items. It is essentially a “fake” pork roast, which consists of lightly mashed potato; mixed with onions and eringi mushrooms, wrapped in thick-cut bacon and roasted. It’s then covered with a delicious fragrant sauce made of red wine, soy sauce and sake.

While no clothes were blown off when we ate this (that was the characters reaction in the show XD), it was delicious! :D Instead of making one big pork roast, we made two smaller portions for each of us. It’s a very filling and satisfying meal for something that doesn’t cost that much to make.

If you wanna try this recipe out yourself, there’s a few youtube videos you can follow, like runnyrunny999 or Feast Of Fiction. Enjoy!!

Sailor Moon Micro Block

12th June 2016

Dear Chibi,

This morning we built the Sailor Moon Micro Block I received from Kaz :D And when I say ‘we built’ I meant Hubby built ;D The instruction sheet looked intimidating for me, so I just helped sort out the different pieces XD

Work in progress photos:

All up, it took around 50 minutes to put together, while we sipped on tea at our cosy kotatsu. Thanks Hubby :D

Sailor Moon R (Part 1) DVD Limited Edition Madman release

4th June 2016

Dear Chibi,

See my review of Sailor Moon Season 1: Part 1 & Part 2

SailorMoonR-part1-01

Sailor Moon R (Season 2 Part 1) is finally out on DVD in Australia! Part 2 comes out in just a few days. This release consists of 4 discs starting with episode 47 (Moon Returns: The Mysterious Aliens Appear) and ending at episode 68 (Protect Chibi-Usa: Clash of the Ten Warriors). It covers the entire “Doom Tree Arc” and the first half of the “Black Moon Arc”. I was lucky enough to get the limited edition copy, so be prepared for lots of eye candy!! *_*

The limited edition copy comes in a nifty collector’s box, big enough to fit the 2 DVDs from this season. It also includes an illustrated booklet, which I looooove! You’ll find plenty of gorgeous artwork by Italian artist Marco Albiero, who redrew a lot of the old 90s anime art which is featured on a lot of GE merchandise.

Click on the thumbnails for a larger view:

Everything is visually appealing from the choice of colours, to the art and design. No complaints, really.

Cardcaptor Sakura Movie – The Sealed Card DVD review

3rd June 2016

Dear Chibi,

Over 2 months, Hubby and I finished all 70 episodes from the Cardcaptor Sakura DVD Collection. I found it thoroughly enjoyable, even though at times it can feel a bit repetitive (The Clow Cards all start to feel the same after a while). There are also quite a few filler episodes which could easily be cut out, but every little interaction between Sakura and Syaoran make it worthwhile for me :3 THEY ARE JUST SO ADORABLE I DON’T CARE THAT THEY’RE 10 :’D

The final movie “The Sealed Card” is the ultimate finale to the Cardcaptor Sakura anime. It takes place 4 months after the end of episode 70 and it heavily focuses on this pairing. This is a brilliant movie for all Cardcaptor Sakura fans, but if you want Sakura and Syaoran to get together, you will love this movie!

(Poor Hubby, he was rooting for Meilin D:)

Cardcaptor Sakura The Sealed Card

“Sakura Kinomoto has come a long way since first being chosen to be a cardcaptor. She’s captured all the cards, made new friends and gained some insight into her own heart. Now, she faces her ultimate challenge, finding the strength to confess her feelings to her true love. While struggling with her heart, a mysterious force has begun stealing her cards and threatens to take away what she truly cherishes. Can Sakura find the inner strength she needs to take on this final challenge?”
