Sailor Moon R (Part 1) DVD Limited Edition Madman release

Dear Chibi,
See my review of Sailor Moon Season 1: Part 1 & Part 2
Sailor Moon R (Season 2 Part 1) is finally out on DVD in Australia! Part 2 comes out in just a few days. This release consists of 4 discs starting with episode 47 (Moon Returns: The Mysterious Aliens Appear) and ending at episode 68 (Protect Chibi-Usa: Clash of the Ten Warriors). It covers the entire “Doom Tree Arc” and the first half of the “Black Moon Arc”. I was lucky enough to get the limited edition copy, so be prepared for lots of eye candy!! *_*
The limited edition copy comes in a nifty collector’s box, big enough to fit the 2 DVDs from this season. It also includes an illustrated booklet, which I looooove! You’ll find plenty of gorgeous artwork by Italian artist Marco Albiero, who redrew a lot of the old 90s anime art which is featured on a lot of GE merchandise.

Everything is visually appealing from the choice of colours, to the art and design. No complaints, really.
Let’s take a look inside the booklet. There are around 20 pages (this is only a snaphot):
(Random note: It says in the booklet Ami’s parents live separately because of their careers, but I’m pretty sure they’re divorced ;D)
Finally, here are some screenshots of the DVD menu and textless opening extras:
The DVD menus, like the previous season are all static, with the main theme song ‘Moonlight Densetsu’ playing in the background. The episode selection is also displayed in plain text. The character featured on each menu correspond to the DVD art, though it does feel a bit odd to have Ail and An on disc 4 (since they don’t appear in the disc) as well as Chibiusa in disc 2 (when she hasn’t been introduced).
The extra material contains textless opening and closing themes as well as more Madman trailers.
Overall, a really nice job on the product. For an extra $10, I think its worth getting the limited edition over the standard version; especially if you’re a collector. Otherwise, the standard edition is perfectly fine without the book and box :)
No release date for the 3rd season ‘Sailor Moon S’ DVD has been announced yet. It may be a while since Viz Media hasn’t released their US version yet. Good news is, Sailor Moon Crystal BD/DVDs should be coming out in a few months time! WOO! So stoked :D
If you’re interested in getting Sailor Moon R part 1, you can grab a copy here: limited edition | standard edition. These are region 4 only.

It looks so pretty! I really need to get the other seasons at some point. Just haven’t felt like chucking out the money, though I did pre-order Crystal. I really LOVE the artwork in the booklet, so pretty!
Nice! Crystal should be pretty sweet with all the fixed up frames/drawings :)
