Dear Chibi,

We did a day trip to visit the famous ‘Slam Dunk’ location, which is basically a scene from the anime’s opening sequence (which appears for a few split seconds). The real life location is a picturesque crossing overlooking the ocean in Kamakura, at Kamakurakokomae Station. It was pretty amusing to check out in person!

Just a short walk from Kamakurakokomae Station…

It’s amazing how this sightseeing spot is still so popular, especially for a show from the 90s (Slam Dunk is awesome, don’t get me wrong!)

You can see Enoshima (the island) in the distance~ That’s where we headed next! There’s not much else to do here except the crossing. It is quite scenic here, and it was fun riding the train.

Crossing this massive bridge to reach the island. P-chan can finally run free.

At the end of the bridge, we passed through lots of little souvenir shops and restaurants.

Once we finished exploring the shrine area, we visited the Samuel Cocking Garden which also takes us to the Enoshima Sea Candle.

Enoshima Sea Candle (Shonan Observatory Lighthouse) is located within the gardens. What we didn’t expect to see was.. a jumping…pillow?! What?? How cool is that?

P-chan had so much fun. We took this chance to take a break and enjoyed some live music as there was a music festival on that night. There hasn’t really been many child-friendly spaces or playgrounds on our trip so far, so this was definitely a plus!
After that we headed up the tower for some 360 views!

The tower has two observation decks, the primary indoor deck and a secondary outdoor deck. I much preferred staying INSIDE. It was freeeeezing out there!! O___O I was worried I’d be blown away…

It was so cold outside. P-chan couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous I looked with my hair flying everywhere. At least he loved it lol!
