Chibi tries out HelloFresh!

Dear Chibi,

So… I recently heard about this company called “Hello Fresh” which delivers simple, healthy recipes to your home for you to cook yourself. They provide all the ingredients you need in the exact amounts, so no grocery shopping is required. The meals are quick and your dinner is ready in about 30 minutes..Sounds sweet, doesn’t it? The downside is, it ends up costing you more money than if you bought the ingredients yourself. They are a business, after all.

Funnily enough, my sister-in-law sent me this deal where I can get 3 meals for 2 people, for just $1 free (Normally $69). Now that’s a bargain ;D And so I signed up to see what all the fuss is about…

Yesterday, my $1 grocery box arrived at my door:

Let’s see what’s inside?

TADA. Lots of singular items, all neatly wrapped up and labelled. Funny thing is… we have about 80% of these in our kitchen already XD. It also comes with a small foam box with an ice pack inside to keep the meat fresh. We found steak, sausages and salmon.

Meal #1: Salmon Niçoise Pasta

It was ready in 25 minutes and the ingredients were pretty fresh. Here’s how mine turned out:

It’s very very basic to make, and quite yummy. I would probably make this again.

Meal #2: Boudin Blanc Sausage Traybake

Hubby made this one to pack for lunch the next day, but unfortunately it lacked taste. Very..very average meal. It doesn’t have much flavour, and my usual roasts taste waaaay better. I dunno, I found this one disappointing…

Meal #3: Steak Frites with Fresh Garden Salad

You can’t really go wrong with a steak and salad ;D We chopped up a red capsicum and added it to the salad since we had one lying around. Fairly straight forward meal, though not the most filling (That steak is pretty small…) The tarragon with butter added a nice flavour, though again my steaks taste a lot better in my humble opinion XD

All in all, it was an interesting experience. I would definitely recommend checking it out if you happen to have the $1 deal (they refund you after). Just remember to unsubscribe once you get the box, or you’ll be charged the full amount for subsequent weeks ^^” I gave 4 of these deals away to some friends. Looking forward to hearing what they have to say ;D
