Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s Sydney Concert @Big Top Luna Park

25th June 2016

Dear Chibi,

Kyyaaryyyyy :D Last night Hubby and I came back from j-pop princess Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s concert held at Luna Park! It’s a one night show in Sydney as part of her “KPP 5iVE Years Monster World Tour 2016”. I was lucky enough to win a double pass to the show, so Hubby and I were both super excited!! We first discovered her music while on our Japan trip back in 2012. Her music video was playing on a large billboard in Shibuya, and her song “Candy Candy” caught our attention. Who would’ve known 4 years later she would perform in Sydney, and that we’d get a chance to see her live?

It was a standing concert and we managed to get a pretty good spot up near the front (on the second row). Loved the atmosphere, many fans cosplayed and dressed up. I might’ve done something if I didn’t have to come after work XD We weren’t allowed to use our proper cameras, so here’s some pics I took on the night with my phone. Still pretty decent quality :)

Kyary was so cute >w<! It was a simple gig, but really enjoyable. She danced the whole night, wore 3 different outfits and got the crowd pumped. I knew around 80% of the songs, while Hubby knew 100% ;D Shows who’s the bigger fan doesn’t it? He was waiting for her to sing “Kimi ni 100 Percent”, and lucky for him she performed it during the encore :D

That awesome moment when a celebrity tweets you :D

7th August 2014

Dear Chibi,

The other day would be like any other day, where I’d log onto Twitter, share a few Sailor Moon tweets, read some messages and hop offline. This particular day, I shared a drawing of the PGSM cast I had previously done (The live action version of Sailor Moon).

And then this happened:

Startling By Each Step (Bu Bu Jing Xin) and other Chinese dramas

12th January 2013

Dear Chibi,

Since finishing “Chinese Paladin 3“, I’ve been meaning to try out a few other Mainland Chinese dramas. I love watching Fantasy/Wuxia/Romance series set in ancient China.

A few months ago I started watching “Strange Hero Yi Zhi Mei” starring Wallace Huo and Liu Shishi (both from Chinese Paladin 3) and got up to about episode 10. It was okay, but it wasn’t as interesting as I had hoped. Not even Wallace Huo was enough to keep me from calling it quits.

Next, I decided to try “Xuan Yuan Sword – Rift of the Sky“- a series I was keen to watch because it has a similar feel to Chinese Paladin. Sadly, I got up to about episode 6 and started losing interest. I don’t like any of the main characters so far, and most have been introduced except for Gu Li Na Zha (who happens to be the only character I might like). SHE HASN’T EVEN APPEARED YET JEN, WHY DID YOU STOP? Because the dry plot and main leads are driving me crazy. I also find the costumes a bit of a turn off.

All these series are about 30 episodes in length so maybe I’m giving up too early. Who knows, maybe I’ll come back to this series in the future^^;

Chinese Paladin 3 Chibi Dolls: Tang Xue Jian & Long Kui

11th March 2012

Dear Chibi,

Today I worked on two new Chibi Dolls of Tang Xue Jian and Long Kui, characters from Chinese Paladin 3 (drama). 2 years ago, I made a set with Zixuan in her various outfits. You can find them here. I’ve been meaning to draw Xue Jian for a while now (for a years actually) because I love her outfit.. it’s so pretty and pink and girlie and dressy XD Needless to say I really enjoyed drawing her :)

This isn’t the first time I’ve drawn Long Kui, but back then I hadn’t even seen the drama XD You can find my old painting of her here. Long Kui wasn’t as fun to draw, mainly because her character design didn’t appeal to me as much. I like drawing characters with a fringe but she doesn’t have one, lol. Just personal preference.

And.. a group shot with all three ladies~ United after 2 years XD If you like these Chibi Dolls, you may like to check out other sets I’ve made:  XianJian 5, Sailor Moon, No Regrets (TVB) and Beyond the Realm of Conscience

Ranma ½ Live Action Special

11th February 2012

Dear Chibi,

I finally got around to watching the live action TV special of Ranma ½, starring Yui Aragaki as Akane, with Kento Kaku and Natsuna Watanabe playing as boy and girl Ranma. When I first heard about it late last year, I had mixed feelings towards it. I saw some photos of the actors in costume and wasn’t too thrilled at first (I had hoped Ranma girl would be cuter XD) but then it wasn’t too bad when I actually watched it. The main characters were likeable and the overall plot was very faithful to the original manga which was a huge plus for me. Sure, the villains were weird and silly, but it still felt very Ranma-like XD

Yui Aragaki looks really pretty as Akane~ a pity her hair gets cut later on.

Soun and Genma are hilarious~ They’re exactly like they are in the original XD

TVB Wayne Lai & Nancy Wu Autograph Session @ Sydney

21st August 2011

Dear Chibi,

Wayne Lai and Nancy Wu @ Sydney 2011

It’s that time of the year again when TVB sends a few of their artists to Sydney to attend the Jade World Carnival and autograph session. This year, Wayne Lai Yiu-cheung and Nancy Wu Ding Yan were chosen and I was pretty excited about that. I really admire Wayne Lai as an actor especially his roles as “Chai Gau” and “Lau Sing” from the Rosy Business franchise. I’m kinda neutral towards Nancy, not a big fan or anything but I don’t mind her. Like the previous 2 years, Jacky, Kaz and I decided to check out the autograph session to meet these celebrities in real life. Sadly, on Friday I came down with the cold and spent the last few days trying to recover. I didn’t recover in time for the event so I wasn’t feeling my best.

The autograph session was held at 2.30pm at Sydney Sussex Center and we arrived about 2 hours earlier. Like the previous years there wasn’t much of a crowd earlier on, so we waited patiently and assumed this was the norm. It turns out the location has changed from the previous years and is no longer held at the main entrance! Only at 2.30pm did we realise it was actually hosted in the food court up on the third level… Yes, you heard right.. FOOD COURT. WTH?

By the time we arrived, the place was already jammed packed with people :( I had to use my super-chibi-ninja skills to find myself a good spot. There was also a queue for the autographs which only allowed VIPs with a sticker to get one. I didn’t have a clue about the stickers. What stickers? Before I could even comprehend the possibility of wasting 2 hours for nothing, Wayne and Nancy had arrived. The crowd went nuts and it looked kinda chaotic. There were lots of old grannies there too which I thought was..kinda cute but weird ^^;

No Regrets Lau Sing & Cheng Kau Mui Chibi Drawing

22nd December 2010

Dear Chibi,

TVB No regrets Chibi Dolls

Yesterday I completed this piece of fanart for, featuring Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang from TVB series  “No Regrets. I love being able to portray characters in this doll form and I’m pretty happy with how they turned out :) I love Sheren’s distinctive look and she was quite a lot of fun to draw.

Embarrassingly, the last time I updated this sketch blog was almost a year ago. Sadly, the reason is that I haven’t drawn anything since then.

Michael Tse, Susanna Kwan & Joe Ma Autograph Session

12th September 2010

Dear Chibi,

Today was a really exciting & memorable day for me! TVB artists Joe Ma, Michael Tse (Laughing Gor) and Susanna Kwan came to Sydney for the Jade World Carnival, and today was the autograph session. Like the previous year, it was held at China Town Sussex Centre but in order to get an autograph we had to spend over $30 to go into a draw. Despite our efforts, Kaz end up drawing out 2 Moon Cake prizes instead, which left us slightly disappointed but the value of the cakes kind of made it okay XD

Nevertheless, we decided to turn up anyway since it was so much fun meeting Linda Chung and Moses Chan last year. The session started at 2pm, so after having some Japanese ramen, Jacky, Kaz and I joined in the crowd a little earlier to get a good view. We kept squealing when they arrived, it feels so amazing meeting celebrities in real life =D Laughing Gor was cool, Susanna Kwan was lovely and Joe Ma was so..charming XDDDD!

At first, I was most excited about Susanna Kwan and Laughing Gor, but when the time came it was Joe Ma who kept us most entertained (he was sitting right in front of us; the other two slightly further away)
