Dear Chibi,

One Punch Man Limited Edition Blyray DVD Combo by Madman

It’s review time :D! Today I’ll be sharing with you unboxing pics of the newly released ‘One Punch Man’ Limited Edition bluray/DVD combo by Madman. It contains the complete first season with 12 episodes + 6 short OVAs. It comes in a very cool cut-out box with a booklet and 6 glossy character art cards.

I’m totally digging that hole right there :’D I’m really quite impressed with the whole packaging.

There are 4 discs total, 2 Bluray discs and 2 DVDs. I watched the bluray with the original Japanese audio though it comes with an English dub too. The prints on the discs look pretty nice.

One Punch Man Limited Edition Booklet

Included in the limited edition set is this booklet titled “One Punch Man Notes”. It’s filled with a lot of great content like character profiles (including all the monsters and bad guys), Genos’s journal, summaries, staff interviews and more. Interviews include notes from the original webcomic author One, the anime director, script writer, character designer and chief animation director and original story writer. You’ll also find the first chapter of the manga at the back. I read this before I watched episode 1 and it’s almost identical!

All in all, the booklet is definitely well thought out, and there is quite a lot to read. There’s a heap of interesting material laid out in a fun and engaging way. My only complaint would be it being slightly damaged at the bottom.

Being a show targeted at adolescent boys and men, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I’m not usually huge on action but it’s quite funny and it made me laugh a lot XD. And here’s the thing… there’s actually a decent story despite how simple it sounds:

“Saitama only became a hero for fun, but after three years of special training, he finds that he can beat even the mightiest opponents with a single punch. Though he faces new enemies every day, it turns out being devastatingly powerful is actually kind of a bore. Can a hero be too strong?”

I wondered how they could play that out over a whole season without it getting repetitive or boring, but it’s done in a clever and entertaining way. The action scenes are also jaw-dropping amazing. The high budget animation for the battle sequences are definitely one of the show’s highlights. 12 episodes suddenly feels too short. Ah, can’t wait for the next season to arrive :)!

The Sailor Moon Crystal Limited Editions come with 6 Art cards and a booklet as well, so it’s pretty neat! The book is waaaay thinner than this though ^^”
