A week in Tasmania Part 1: Hobart

Dear Chibi,

We started the day with some breakfast at Jackman & McRoss before leaving for the east coast.

Freshly brewed chai milk tea with honey

tasmania-64

tasmania-65

Scallop and Seaweed Pie ~ very interesting taste!

tasmania-66

Bacon and scrambled eggs focaccia

tasmania-68

..And with that, it was time to say good bye to Hobart :)

Our next destination is Coles Bay which is about a 2.5 hour drive. We made a brief stop at Triabunna, and planned to try out the seafood at ‘The Fish Van’.. but it was raining when we arrived and we were still full from breakfast ^^” Oh well… XD

Some nice greenery along the way!

Coles Bay

We stayed at Pelican Bay Bed and Breakfast for 2 nights. The hosts were a friendly elderly couple and the place was well kept- nice and cosy. I still prefer to stay at a hotel though for more privacy and freedom. It doesn’t quite feel the same when you can’t just throw your things everywhere ;D ohohoh..

Freycinet

tasmania-74

Next, we stopped at Freycinet Marine Farm for a dose of fresh seafood goodness. These oysters were SO DELICIOUS, just thinking about it makes me drool *_*

tasmania-75

tasmania-77

We also ordered these super flavorful garlic scallops. mmMMmm … :D

tasmania-76

tasmania-78

Thumbs up from Hubby!

tasmania-79

Time to explore the surrounding areas!

tasmania-80

Hubby spotted this cute echidna on the side of the road :3 I think we only managed to find one during our entire stay.

tasmania-81

Ah.. what a pretty sight! :D

tasmania-82

tasmania-83

Hello there Mr Seagull 8D

tasmania-84

tasmania-85

All the beaches were pretty empty. Actually, this whole town only has a population of around 400 people. Their town centre consisted of basically two buildings ^^” There was hardly anyone anywhere we went, which is kinda nice :D It makes it all rather peaceful and quiet :)

Honeymoon Bay

tasmania-93

Our first sighting of a wallaby! This little fella was sitting there alone in the parking lot. We were so fascinated by it at first but later saw them everywhere, lol XD Guess they are pretty common!

Oh how I loved this place :3  It started to rain and get cold, so we decided to leave for dinner. We knew we had to come back here though!

tasmania-101

We had dinner at Richardsons Bistro where we ordered more seafood.

tasmania-103

2 of everything. This exact dish can be found at almost every restaurant in this area.

tasmania-102

Hubby’s still mostly excited by the burgers, hehee.

tasmania-104

Freycinet National Park

tasmania-110

Sleepy Bay & Cape Tourville Lighthouse

The next morning, we went to check out the Cape Tourville Lighthouse, and did a small walk along Sleepy Bay. To be honest, I was more excited by the walk than the actual lighthouse ;D

Wineglass Bay Lookout

tasmania-117

On our way to the Wineglass Bay lookout, Hubby checks out the view of Hazards Beach. THAT LOOKS LIKE A HAZARDOUS SPOT HUB.

tasmania-118

tasmania-119

View of Wineglass Bay! This was probably the most touristy spot we’ve been to so far.

tasmania-120

Uh. LOOKS SO DANGEROUS HUB :<

tasmania-121

Hubby takes a little nap on our way down…

tasmania-122

..and flexes some muscles 8D

tasmania-123

We decided to have an earlier dinner so we can go back to Honeymoon Bay and watch the sun set :D
