What’s for dinner? #7

Dear Chibi,

Woo! I’ve hit over 30 different recipes :D It makes me so happy when I look back at my old blog entries, and knowing how far I’ve come since I started :) Some of the photos look quite hilarious (especially that burnt carbonara XD) It’s been quite a journey over the last 6-7 months, with many many trips to Aldi, Coles & Harris Farm on a daily basis. Hubby would spend 2-3 days a week walking to Paddy’s Market, and our weekend would consist of trips to Bankstown or Hurstville for the butchers. Our pantry is overflowing with different herbs and spices.

Life is great! :D

Dish #30 Curried Sausages

A very tasty and flavorful dish, served with rice and yoghurt :D I’m not really sure where this originated from… I’ve been told it’s an English cuisine, but I’m not sure about this variation.

Dish #31 Rosemary and Garlic Roast Lamb

With roasted veggies and home-made gravy! :D Roasts take longer than others, but is totally worth the wait ^^ So juiccccyyy!! This lamb was delish!

Dish #32 Soto Ayam (Chicken Noodle Soup)

My first Indonesian dish! Robbie has been bugging me to make this for a while now, so finally on a Friday night, I spent 2.5 hours cooking this up! It shouldn’t really take this long, but it did. I made everything from scratch including the chicken broth and paste for the soup! It was a very interesting experience as I’ve never worked with a lot of the ingredients, like lemongrass, french shallots, grounded coriander, turmeric etc.

Served with bean spouts, lime, spring onions, fried shallots, mung bean vermicelli, chilli paste and steamed rice.

The end result, when you put everything together :D Since I’ve never actually had Soto Ayam before, I couldn’t really compare this to the real deal ^^” I feel like the soup could do with a bit more flavour. I was also told the soup should be more thick and not as runny. I guess I’ll learn for next time!

Dish #33 Chicken and Mushroom Risotto with Thyme
