the last class…? looking back and forward

9th November 2007 at 2:46 pm

Dear Chibi,

Today I attended my final tutorial class at COFA (Adv. Analouge and Digital Animation).. so what does that mean..? Jen is finished with her University assignments and no longer have classes!!! I still have till November 16th to prepare my major work for the COFA Annual exhibition, but in terms of marking/assessment wise.. everything is in.

wow. it feels weird. So this is it? I feel like I still have some kind of burden on my back and I guess that can only be gone after the Annual Exhibition (gotta touch up my animation more) That aside… what a year! You may have noticed that all my blog entries for October have been rather depressing..yes, I was stressed, very stressed. I feel like I didn’t have a life this year..but hey, it is the final Uni year and we were warned that this year was going to be crazy, lol. yes it was.

A lot of people have been asking me what I’ll be doing next year.. plans and things. I know I’ll be going overseas for a little holiday sometime early next year and have told myself to work on personal projects. The funny thing is.. before I started this degree, I didn’t know what I wanted to do.. and now finishing it, I still kind of don’t know what I want to do, haha. Let’s just say, I’ll take it easy for a while ^_^ Do a few part time jobs to keep my wallet happy and just enjoy life for a bit. I entered the workforce the day I finished my final HSC exam (3 years ago), and since then I’ve been working in a variety of places.

The workforce is a strange place .. You definitely met a lot of different people and learn a lot about “the real world”. Selling watches was a good place to start…get into the whole customer service thing and communicating with people. Then I’ve tried those very tiring/repetitive/boring type of work such as packaging in factories, lol. The work itself was pretty dull and changed my sleeping pattern.. it was all about sleeping at 2am, waking at 12 in the arvo, and going back to work at 3pm. The people were nice though so it was still bearable. Then comes to horrific cafe/hot food/asian food/fish n chips all-in-one store at Parklea.. @_@ which you all know how that turned out for me, lol. I admit, I learnt A LOT there.. maybe too much ^_^; I’ve never faced so many challenges in the workforce than that place. I give it credit for giving me such an experience but it ended on a terrible note which I hope won’t ever happen in the other jobs.

Then you’ve got the private tutoring girl who refuses to listen to me is still with me (It has almost been two YEARS O_O woah). Well… I just got use to it… can’t expect much from her, lol. I wonder how long she’ll need me…

The longest job I’ve been with is of course teaching at the Monastery Yr 11 Economics class. I’ll probably still be sticking around for at least another year o.o In about a months time, I would have to wave my class good-bye and prepare myself for the new bunch in 2008. We’ll see how that goes =) Teaching here has been a great pleasure and it’s nice to be able to go a bit crazy now and then. The students will understand, lol. (I’ve been speaking to my class in a Russian accent for quite some time…hehe)

There has been a company I’ve been working with this year on a part-time basis while studying at Uni. This was a rather interesting experience.. I’ve been with them since the beginning! Before they launched..before they moved to a new premises, before I even had a manager. I feel special XD I haven’t been there for the past month of October due to too much workload but will be going back to them next week. This was the first job actually related to my field so it was good to put skills into practice.

Where do I want to work in the future? Such a difficult question after having a taste of the real world, lol. Maybe I’ll just be bold and say “I don’t know yet!” Give me some time and I will find my way, hehee.

phew..very long post.

Anyways, I updated my portfolio last night with a new flash animation I did. Check it out if you haven’t already:

More reflections in another post ^_^
